ASTEKLIMA encourages public to take part in activities to foster energy & climate transition

08/09/2022

The third edition of ASTEKLIMA, Basque Climate and Energy Week, is set to deploy a total of 137 activities from 23 September to 2 October to heighten awareness and encourage public participation in bringing about the much-needed energy and climate transition. This year’s slogan is ‘every action counts, no matter how small’.

The initiative is organised by the Basque Government Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment via its publicly-owned companies Ihobe and EVE. There will be a packed programme of activities in all three provinces, including a range of workshops, talks, interpretation tours and games. There are activities for different target groups, designed to bring them closer to the challenges posed by climate change and help them understand the importance of acting locally to tackle current climate and energy challenges and those still to come.

To that end, the Basque Government Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, with the cooperation of the publicly-owned company Ihobe, has earmarked €200,000 for the organising of activities aligned with Basque Green Deal goals for fair, sustainable development.
