Urban Klima 2050 shows a video of the project that will reduce the risk of flooding, prevent pollutants being washed away from the industrial estate and restore the area's ecosystems.

The construction of the Bekoibarra road is an important step for Gernika-Lumo in terms of climate actions for mitigating and adapting to climate change in the municipality. The LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 video shows the actions planned in this area, their objectives and the expected benefits.

This is one of the graphic documents that depicts the pilot projects that are being implemented in the municipalities benefiting from Urban Klima 2050. Urban Klima 2050 is releasing this video collection in the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28) which is taking place in Dubai between November 30 and December 12, 2023.

Building the Bekoibarra road will lead to improvements from an urban planning point of view by connecting the Rentería bridge to Bekoibarra, thereby improving the connectivity of this area of Gernika-Lumo. Moreover, building a wall will reduce the risk of flooding and make it possible to control pollutants being washed out of the soil in this industrial area.

These actions also include controlling invasive exotic species, restoring native vegetation and protecting endangered species such as the European mink.
