14/09/2020:
Naturalization of the Artikutza dam

As part of the work to naturalize the Artikutza dam, a study has been carried out to determine the effects on the area’s fish fauna and a diagnosis of the state of the amphibians (especially the common salamander and the Pyrenean newt). Two trials have also been carried out to establish ponds in the emerged zone.  At the same time, work is being carried out to disable the reservoir dam and improve the connectivity of the Enobieta stream, and the spontaneous evolution of the vegetation is being monitored.

The naturalization of the Artikutza dam is a recovery work with the objective of enviromentally regenerating the course of the Enobieta River, restoring and estimated area of 16 ha previously covered by the reservoir for decades.
