Regions4 has chosen the LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project as its case study for August. The network of sub-national governments working on sustainable development, climate change and biodiversity has highlighted the innovative territorial and governance approach of the Basque Country’s largest climate action project, which is not only limited to urban areas, but also has actions underway to tackle coastal, river and peri-urban areas in various towns and cities in the Basque Country.

Regions4 highlights Urban Klima 2050's actions in coastal areas to build resilience, actions in river basins to enhance sustainability in river systems, and actions in urban and peri-urban areas to transform cities on the periphery.

It also mentions other project initiatives such as the analysis undertaken for the Basque Country Climate Change Strategy 2050 and the 2021-2024 Action Plan, the guidelines for incorporating climate change into sectoral policies to create a resilient territory, and the deployment of different pilot projects to improve various areas and municipalities, achieving a widespread climate action impact in the Basque Country.
