Udalsarea 2030 organises a workshop on calculating greenhouse gas emissions for Basque Towns and Cities

09/06/2021

The Basque Network of Municipalities for Sustainability, Udalsarea 2030, is offering a course on 10 June to present some GHG calculation tools —Greenhouse gases (GHGs) — for Basque towns and cities.

This practical course is aimed at Basque towns and regions that belong to the Basque Network of Municipalities for Sustainability and is divided into two parts: the first to present the municipal tools for estimating town council’s carbon footprint, and the second to perform an inventory of GHG in the municipality.

After doing a practical exercise with the town councils, which will answer any questions, the regional bodies will also have an opportunity to learn how to calculate their carbon footprints and do their own greenhouse gas emissions inventories. The session will also have a practical application.

These tools have been adapted to regional scale through the  LIFE IP Urban Klima 2050 project to cover associations of municipalities and development agencies.

In addition, both municipalities and regions will be able to draw up an inventory of their GHG emissions in order to adapt and improve policies that have the greatest impact on climate change, such as mobility, urban planning, municipal energy consumption, waste management and energy supply.
